MEXICO CITY—The Laboratorio Arte Alameda invites the public to participate in the activity Shadows That Inhabit , which will take place on Saturday, July 4, and Sunday, July 5, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The initiative is inspired by the large-format installation Fables to Sleep By , by the artist Josué Mejía.
Led by the Puedo ayudar mediation team from Laboratorio Arte Alameda, this interactive workshop will allow participants — either individually or collectively — to build a shadow lamp with simple materials using cutting and assembly techniques.
- The goal is to recover the value of the manual and the accessible to activate sensory experiences, transforming a technical object into a device where light and matter dialogue to give rise to moving images and unique visual narratives.
As the activity concludes, participants will transform the museum chapel with their creations. The lamps will cast shadows on the surroundings, engaging in a direct dialogue with the architectural space and with the work of Josué Mejía. This piece also establishes a critical analysis of the mural "The Informants of Sahagún ," located within the same building, and of the construction of the national imaginary.
- With this proposal, the Laboratorio Arte Alameda seeks to open the exhibition to new dynamics of interaction, transforming the room from an area of passive contemplation to a space of experimentation, pause and collective play.
CIUDAD DE MÉXICO.— El Laboratorio Arte Alameda invita al público a participar en la actividad Sombras que habitan, la cual se llevará a cabo el sábado 4 y domingo 5 de julio de las 11:00 a las 17:00 horas. La iniciativa está inspirada en la instalación de gran formato Fábulas para dormir, del artista Josué Mejía.
Impartido por el equipo de mediación Puedo ayudarte del Laboratorio Arte Alameda, este taller interactivo permitirá a los asistentes —ya sea de manera individual o colectiva— construir una lámpara de sombras con materiales sencillos mediante técnicas de recorte y ensamblaje.
- El objetivo es recuperar el valor de lo manual y lo accesible para activar experiencias sensibles, transformando un objeto técnico en un dispositivo donde la luz y la materia dialoguen para dar origen a imágenes en movimiento y narrativas visuales propias.
Como cierre de la actividad, los participantes intervendrán la capilla del museo con sus creaciones. Las lámparas proyectarán sus sombras en el entorno, dialogando directamente con el espacio arquitectónico y con la obra de Josué Mejía. Esta pieza establece a su vez un desglose crítico con el mural Los Informantes de Sahagún, ubicado en el propio recinto, y con la construcción del imaginario nacional.
- Con esta propuesta, el Laboratorio Arte Alameda busca abrir la exposición a nuevas dinámicas de interacción, transformando la sala de una zona de contemplación pasiva a un espacio de experimentación, detención y juego colectivo.
