Exhibitions dedicated to the FEMSA collection and artists such as Gabriel de la Mora will be part of the first semester of exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Monterrey (Marco), announced Taiyana Pimentel, director of the venue that will celebrate its 35th anniversary this year.

"It will be a program that will continue to emphasize a dialogue with private collections on this continent and that allows for interpretations of international and local art," Pimentel highlighted.

The first exhibition of the year will be Constellations and Drifts: Latin American Art from the FEMSA Collection , which will open on Friday, March 20, with 170 works by more than 115 Latin American artists from the 20th and 21st centuries, including Remedios Varo, Leonora Carrington, David Alfaro Siqueiros, Francis Alÿs, Vivian Suter, Damián Ortega and Julio Galán.

exhibition, which will coincide with the celebration of the collection's 50th anniversary, will be an opportunity to learn about the acquisitions of the last five years, Pimentel noted.

The next exhibition will be Gabriel de la Mora: La Petite Mort , which will open on April 24, in collaboration with the Jumex Museum in the capital, and will address two central concerns: death and ecstatic sexual pleasure.

Pimentel also announced the opening of the Charles & Ray Eames exhibition on May 8, which will review the work of both American designers through videos, objects, and unpublished documents that transformed the visual culture of the 20th century.

Finally, he announced that, in the lead-up to the World Cup, Marco will hold its Summer Nights with a sound program that will bring together the music of the countries that come to play in Mexico and Mexican sound systems.

These sporting events, Pimentel explained, are those moments where joy is activated and Marco wants to join in this space of celebration, he concluded.
