The highly anticipated event for collectors and institutions opened its doors on March 14th and, with three days to go before its closing, has already secured major international deals with a strong presence of Spanish galleries.

The TEFAF Maastricht 2026 fair, spanning 7,000 years of art history, has reached its midpoint with outstanding sales figures that reaffirm this annual event as the world’s leading marketplace for art, antiques, and design.
The success of this edition lies in the exceptional quality of the works presented by galleries from around the world, resulting in one of the strongest editions in recent years—encouraging both private collectors and institutions to acquire pieces of true museum quality.
On behalf of the TEFAF Executive Committee, Boris Vervoordt commented: “What we are witnessing this week in Maastricht is a powerful reminder that interest in great works of art continues to grow. TEFAF exhibitors have assembled an extraordinary concentration of quality and scholarship, and collectors have responded immediately; early acquisitions confirm that, even in times of uncertainty, collectors remain deeply committed to acquiring truly exceptional works.”
The Dutch city has witnessed the closing of international transactions that will distribute the rich heritage gathered there across multiple countries, thereby enriching collections, museums, and galleries.

Highlights from international galleries
The American gallery Gallery 19C completed the sale—estimated between €500,000 and €1,000,000—of L’homme est en mer by French artist Virginie Demont-Breton. The buyer was the Van Gogh Museum, for whom the work holds great significance, as Vincent van Gogh made a copy of it after encountering the composition through a print.
In the field of antiquities, one of the highest-value transactions was achieved—at approximately £1.8 million—through the sale by the British gallery Stuart Lochhead Sculpture to an American museum of the Nero Vase, a 1st-century AD piece that once belonged to the imperial residence Domus Transitoria.
Bowman Sculpture, also based in the United Kingdom, sold two sculptures by Massimiliano Pelletti to private collectors (American and Austrian) for £100,000 and £50,000 respectively.
As for Hispanic-American galleries, AGO Projects sold several works by Taller Los Tepalcates and Myungjin Kim, while Proyectos Monclova completed the sale of 7,386 Do. Ch. by Gabriel de la Mora, along with two paintings by Abel Quezada.
La feria TEFAF Maastricht 2026, que abarca 7.000 años de historia del arte, ha alcanzado su equinoccio con unas excelentes cifras de venta que consolidan a esta cita anual como el principal mercado mundial para el arte, las antigüedades y el diseño.
El éxito de esta edición radica en la calidad excepcional de las obras llevadas por galerías de todo el mundo, conformando una de las ediciones más sólidas de los últimos años que ha animado a coleccionistas privados y a instituciones a adquirir piezas de auténtica calidad museística.
En nombre del Comité Ejecutivo de TEFAF, Boris Vervoordt comenta: «Lo que estamos viendo esta semana en Maastricht es un poderoso recordatorio de que el interés por las grandes obras de arte continúa creciendo. Los expositores de TEFAF han reunido una concentración extraordinaria de calidad y erudición, y los coleccionistas han respondido de inmediato; las adquisiciones tempranas confirman que, incluso en tiempos de incertidumbre, los coleccionistas siguen profundamente comprometidos con la adquisición de obras verdaderamente excepcionales».
La ciudad neerlandesa ha sido testigo del cierre de transacciones internacionales que repartirán el rico patrimonio allí reunido por multitud de países enriqueciendo así colecciones, museos, galerías...

Ventas destacadas de galerías extranjeras
La estadounidense Gallery 19C cerró la venta por un precio estimado de entre 500.000 y 1.000.000€ de L'homme est en mer de la artista francesa Virginie Demont-Breton. El comprador fue el Museo van Gogh, para el cual la obra tiene una gran importancia, ya que Vincent van Gogh realizó una copia de la misma tras conocer la composición por medio de una estampa.
En el plano de las antigüedades se ha alcanzado una de las transacciones más elevadas –por un precio cercano a 1,8 millones de libras– mediante la venta por parte de la galería británica Stuart Lochhead Sculpture a un museo estadounidense de Vaso de Nerón, una pieza del siglo I d. de C. que perteneció a la residencia imperial Domus Transitoria.
Bowman Sculpture , también con sede en Reino Unido, vendió dos esculturas de Massimiliano Pelletti a coleccionistas privados (estadounidense y austríaco) por 100.000 y 50.000 libras respectivamente.
