Gabriel de la Mora: La Petite Mort brings together two decades of production by the artist (Mexico City, 1968), whose practice is distinguished by the transformation of materials through processes that oscillate between the meticulous and the elemental. Through operations that evoke the alchemical—from delicate compositions using butterfly wings or human hair to the recovery of eroded architectural surfaces—De la Mora constructs objects of great formal subtlety and intense sensory charge.
The exhibition proposes a reading that begins with the seduction of surfaces and delves into the underlying impulses and desires within his work. The exhibition is organized into six sections—the body, erasure, heat, the edge of desire, touch, and the pleasure of the viewer—which reveal the fundamental tensions that run through the artist’s practice.

Gabriel de la Mora: La Petite Mort reúne dos décadas de producción del artista (Ciudad de México, 1968), cuya práctica se distingue por la transformación de materiales mediante procesos que oscilan entre lo meticuloso y lo elemental. A través de operaciones que evocan lo alquímico —desde la delicada composición con alas de mariposa o cabello humano, hasta la recuperación de superficies arquitectónicas erosionadas—, De la Mora construye objetos de gran sutileza formal y una intensa carga sensorial. Curada por Tobias Ostrander, la exposición propone una lectura que parte de la seducción de las superficies para adentrarse en los impulsos y deseos subyacentes en su obra. La muestra se organiza en seis núcleos —el cuerpo, la borradura, el calor, el filo del deseo, el tacto y el placer del espectador— que revelan las tensiones fundamentales que atraviesan la práctica del artista.
