The group exhibition brings together artists from different generations and contexts—Ana Teresa Barbosa, Carmelo Arden Quin, Eduardo Terrazas, Eamon Ore-Giron, Mano Penalva, Maria Leontina, and Olga de Amaral—and addresses themes such as belonging, migration, craft practices, and the tensions between tradition and modernity. What these artists share, however, is a deep belief in the capacity of art to imagine and represent different ideas and models of the world.
The works on view span a wide range of media, including painting, sculpture, tapestry and other textiles, mosaics, and mobiles, exploring scales that oscillate between the micro and the macro through approaches that connect the earthly with the cosmic, the intimate with collective memory, and tradition with experimentation. The works share common links with abstraction—at times geometric, at times intuitive—exploring and reinventing some of modernity’s most fundamental legacies.
The exhibition takes place in parallel with the 36th São Paulo Biennial, contributing to the ongoing debate on ways of existing and creating in contemporary Latin America, shaped by colonization and the violent and turbulent histories of independence, by movements of displacement and migration, and by a visual production that confronts local iconographies and Eurocentric perspectives on art history.

La muestra colectiva reúne a artistas de diferentes generaciones y contextos—Ana Teresa Barbosa, Carmelo Arden Quin, Eduardo Terrazas, Eamon Ore-Giron, Mano Penalva, Maria Leontina, y Olga de Amaral—y aborda temas como la pertenencia, la migración, las prácticas artesanales, y las tensiones entre tradición y modernidad. Pero lo que estos artistas comparten es una profunda creencia en la capacidad del arte para imaginar y representar diferentes ideas y modelos del mundo. Las obras en la muestra abarcan diversos medios, incluyendo pintura, escultura, tapicería y otros textiles, mosaicos, y móviles, explorando escalas que oscilan entre lo micro y lo macro a través de enfoques que conectan lo terrenal con lo cósmico, lo íntimo con la memoria colectiva, y la tradición con la experimentación. Las obras comparten vínculos comunes con la abstracción, a veces geométrica, a veces intuitiva, explorando y reinventando algunos de los legados más fundamentales de la modernidad. La exposición se realiza en paralelo a la 36ª Bienal de São Paulo, contribuyendo al debate sobre los modos de existir y crear en la América Latina contemporánea, marcada por la colonización y las violentas y turbulentas historias de independencia, por movimientos de desplazamiento y migración, y por una producción visual que tensiona las iconografías locales y las perspectivas eurocéntricas sobre la historia del arte.
